- Pray
- Pray some more. Saints are made in prayer. Prayer makes saints because prayer joins us to God, who is the source of all Sanctifying Grace. Sanctifying Grace makes saints. So pray more.
- Be a part of a community of people that are going to support you in this journey. Keep asking around until you get that community. The purpose of this site is to provide an online community, so make a comment or write me an email that you would like to be a part of The Sainthood Project and take up The Sainthood Challenge. Subscribe to the site so that you can get updates to the project, daily reflections on sainthood, lives of the saints sent to your email or RSS Reader. Pray that God gives you the strength to commit.
- Make a general statement about what needs to change in your life once you make sainthood a priority, the number one thing. Pray.
- At every moment of your life, choose the path that would be chosen by a saint. Pray for the wisdom to see the choice you have to make and the grace to make that choice.
- Live your vocation first. Before your job. Before your hobbies. Before your friends. Pray for them.
- Expect persecution because loving people unconditionally is dangerous. People will expect ulterior motives, cynicism, hypocrisy. Choose sainthood and realize that you are embracing a cross. You are accepting God's will in your life at every moment beyond what feels good, beyond what is popular, beyond what is deemed "successful." Pray for the Grace to endure.
- Live a life of Heroic Virtue as per the Commandments, Beatitudes, Virtues and Fruits of the Spirit. Pray for forgiveness when you don't. Apologize and ask forgiveness before anyone asks you to.
- Let others know about the project, spread the word. Get others involved. Start a small group of people that are pursuing sainthood at your parish. Pray for them by name. Pray for the others in the project.
- Change the world. Repeat any number as needed. Especially numbers 1 and 2.
