Change Your Prayer

Is your prayer life stuck? Do you think you could do better? Are you hounded by failure in sin? Get out of it...

1. Apologize
2. Forgive
3. Write a mission statement for your eternal life.
4. Avoid going to websites that suck your life.
5. Go to a Church for 10 minutes and pray.
6. Get a spiritual director.
7. Get into a spiritual debate where you have to defend what you believe.
8. Listen to people that disagree with you. Pray for them.
9. Start a prayer group or Bible study.
10. Dump a friend who is leading you away from sainthood.
11. Blog about your journey to sainthood.
12. Volunteer at a homeless shelter on the weekend.
13. Get involved in a ministry at Church.
14. Go visit someone who needs to see you that you have been avoiding.
15. Clean the office. Clean someone else's office.
16. Memorize your witness talk.
17. Let your children make the rules for one day. Play with them.
18. Throw out everything you have not used in the last two years.
19. Write a note to someone you haven't seen in a long time.
20. Go to Rome. Stay at a hostel. Pray.
21. Get an audio copy of the Bible. Listen to it.
22. Sell your house. Buy or rent a smaller house.
23. Give someone a gift they don't deserve.
24. Stop lying.
25. Tell someone who gossips that you are going to tell everyone what they say.
26. Move to another city. Become a missionary.
27. Fast.
28. Do something completely unpredictable and slightly childish.
29. Take a half day.
30. Go on a silent retreat.
31. Get rid of the 80% of your work that is meaningless.
32. Say a rosary or go to mass during lunch.
33. Subscribe to spiritual blogs and read them.
34. Go on a media fast.
35. Write one note to a different person every day telling them why they are important to you.
36. Stop talking.
37. Read the Bible at work. When people ask what you are doing, tell them it is "research for a future project."
38. Go to the local seminary. Sign up or contribute.
39. When someone compliments something you have, give it away. To them. Right there.
40. Listen to music you don't normally listen to. Like Chant.
41. Think of Jesus every time you walk through a doorway.
42. Set up a video camera in the corner of your dining room and record your family eating dinner.
43. Put a prayer corner in your house.
44. Write your own prayer.
45. Make an appointment with your parish priest. Hug him and thank him for his vocation and then leave.
46. Ask the next ten people you encounter what they need prayers for.
47. Go to a Catholic School and pay the tuition of the child whose family owes the school the most. Tell no one.
48. Go to a wedding at a Church and pray for the couple. Make sure you don't know them.
49. Go to a funeral and offer prayers for the souls in Purgatory.
