Today I hop on a plane to Kansas City for the NCYC, basically the biggest gathering of Catholic young humanity in the country.
First, if you are going, find me. I would love to meet you, say hi, pray with you, hear your thoughts about the project and where we can go.
Secondly, please pray for everyone that will be there.
I think that we get caught up in "doing" things and forget that much of the time we should be enjoying what God has given us. Right now there are a lot of people doing a lot of great work to be sure that everyone there is going to have a great time.
Great times shouldn't be isolated to when we "stage" them. We should be approaching everything, even our jobs, as youth, as young people.
We need to understand that even if we are following a schedule, someone else's rules or orders, God wants us to be totally free. Totally and completely free.
God wants us to have the freedom to be liberated from being a slave to sin. The freedom to do good at all times without restrictions for only the good will make us truly happy.
God wants us to be excited about following him. So many times we lose excitement because we get caught up with the idea of things that are right in front of our face and miss the end result we are living for. If we can't get excited about Heaven, we either don't know what Heaven is or we are insane.
When was the last time you stopped multi-tasking and invested everything you were into prayer? How about ministry? How about vocation? Especially when it wasn't that exciting or great.
The point is that on weekends like this when 20,000 people are gathered together, it's easy to have fun, to have a good time, to leave with a great feeling.
The trick is to learn how to see God presenting you with billions of angels and saints every day who are gathered together for the purpose of celebrating your sainthood.
